CASE STUDY / FIRST PHYSICAL RELEASE

MONO
PHOBIA.

SOLD OUT

Your journey doesn't have to be lonely.

MONOPHOBIA was the first PHOBIA YOYO design to move from an idea on screen into a physical release.

THE FIRST CHAPTER

MONOPHOBIA

Your journey doesn't have to be lonely.

Every journey begins somewhere.

Sometimes, it begins alone — with nothing but a string, a yoyo, and the determination to try one more time.

Monophobia was created around the fear of being alone. But being alone doesn't always mean being lost. It can be the beginning of self-discovery, a moment to focus, to grow, and to find strength within yourself.

Every missed trick is another lesson. Every small improvement is a reason to keep going. And every time you pick up your yoyo again, you're choosing to move forward instead of giving up.

As the first release in the PHOBIA YOYO lineup, MONOPHOBIA represents the beginning of our journey — a monometal yoyo built to embody the spirit of facing your fears, one throw at a time.

A first step for PHOBIA. A new challenge for you.

You may start alone, but you don't have to stop there.

MONOPHOBIA — The fear of being alone. The courage to begin.

THE PROJECT

A first step made real.

MONOPHOBIA began with the fear of being alone and the courage to begin anyway. The project became a practical test of PHOBIA YOYO's full process: turning a story into geometry, evaluating it as a playable object, refining a prototype, and bringing a monometal yoyo into production.

The physical release is currently sold out. Its lessons and the community response now inform the next PHOBIA YOYO project.

CAD → PROTOTYPE → PRODUCT

The path to MONOPHOBIA.

01

Meaning and brief

The name came first: a design about beginning alone without staying stuck there. That idea gave the product a clear identity before its geometry was final.

02

CAD development

The intent moved into CAD, where proportion, assembly, and the relationship between form and playable geometry could be examined before committing to metal.

03

Prototype and refinement

A physical prototype turned measurements into feel. This stage connected the digital model with real handling, response, and the practical decisions required for production.

04

Physical release

MONOPHOBIA became PHOBIA YOYO's first produced monometal release. The sold-out run proved that an independent concept could move all the way into players' hands.

DESIGN DECISIONS

What guided the first release.

The project needed to work as both a playable yoyo and the opening chapter of the PHOBIA identity. Starting with a monometal construction kept the first production journey focused while leaving room to learn from machining, assembly, and player response.
